Bring God Glory at Work

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31 NLT

people at work

When ever we hear about people talking about being a believer in the work place the conversation typically starts with the statement, “how to be a Christian in the workplace.”  The discussion then goes to focus on our behavior in the workplace, which is not bad and some Christians do to examine their actions in the workplace.  John Piper in  his recent blog post titled How to Glorify God at Work, brings the discussion at a different level.  Instead of focusing on proper behavior for the sake of proper behavior, he writes believers are to use work as a means to bring glory to God.  He mentions nine areas to focus on:

  1. Dependence
  2. Integrity
  3. Skill
  4. Corporate sharing
  5. Impact
  6. Communication
  7.  Love
  8. Money
  9. Thanks
He wraps up the article by saying:
The point is: Whatever you do, whether you eat or drink or work, do all to make God look as great as he really is.
If you have a job (secular or not) take the time to read what Piper wrote.  For me personally it was a great reminder of why I work or do anything else for that matter.  The chief goal of man is bring glory to God, no matter where you are.
